In a crucial move, the White Sox have reinstated Adam Engel from the IL. Engel was called up in 2017 as a defensive outfielder, although lately he has developed a solid bat as well. The move comes after Engel was on and off from the IL all year, and he has only played in 33 games.
In those 33 games, Engel has slashed .248/.339/.505 with 7 HR in 105 AB. Throughout his career, Engel has an OPS of .639.
The Sox still have Andrew Vaughn and Ryan Tepera on the IL, and they activated Tim Anderson and Lucas Giolito fairly recently. Engel was designated for a rehab assignment on Septemeber 7th.
The White Sox have been fairly unlucky in injuries to their outfield this year, as almost every outfielder that remains on the White Sox has spent time on the IL this year. That includes players such as Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, Vaughn, Billy Hamilton, and Engel.
